Operating Classroom Cameras
In order to control the classroom cameras, you need to start the room system first. Camera controls are available in all three of the available class modes
To access the camera controls menu, please press the button labeled “Open Camera Controls.” You can access this button from any of the modes on the touchscreen.
Below you can see the screen that will open after tapping the "Open Camera Controls" button. You will see controls for camera selection, presets, moving the camera, zooming in and out, and enabling/disabling the pressure pad/IR Sensor.
The camera selection toggles between the two cameras available in the classroom. “Instructor Camera” focuses on the podium and the front of the room. The “Classroom Camera” focuses on the classroom and your students.
On the screen there is a directional pad, or D-pad. This can be used to adjust the positioning of the cameras to where you want them to be facing. Please note that you will be adjusting the camera that is selected in the "Active Camera" section (so either the Instructor or the Class camera). There is also a camera preview visible in the top left corner of the touchscreen to help you more accurately position the camera.
The zoom function has two buttons. Zoom in and zoom out. You can tap for adjustment or hold if a larger adjustment is required.
Each touchscreen has up to 10 presets you can customize and recall while operating the classroom cameras. To save a preset, put the camera where you would like it positioned, then tap “Save Preset” and then select the number you would like the position to be assigned to.
Instrumented classrooms are equipped with either a pressure mat on the floor, or an IR Sensor in the ceiling. These will detect when the instructor moves in front of the keyboard and will reposition the camera to focus on the podium when triggered. It will also zoom the camera out to show the entire front of the classroom when the instructor steps away from the podium. That way the instructor does not need to worry about preemptively adjusting the camera themselves. There is a button in the camera controls to turn this feature on and off. If it says “Enabled,” the camera will make those adjustments. To disable it, tap the “Enabled” button, and the color will change to red and change the label to “Disabled.”
In Zoom, make sure the camera is selected from the video menu. All adjustments made to the cameras on the touchscreen will be reflected in Zoom as well. To leave the menu, tap the red “X” in the top right corner of the screen. This will bring you back to the regular menu of the touchscreen. .
