It is recommended that you use your NDSU Zoom license for courses and meetings you attend at NDSU. This guide will get you started!
What can Zoom be used for?
- Synchronous and hybrid courses
- Meeting and working with group members on course projects and assignments
- Recording a presentation
- Scheduling events such as meetings and tutoring sessions
- Host a meeting for a club or organization
- Attend student office hours or with an instructor
What devices can I use Zoom on?
- Laptop/desktop computer (Windows/Mac) – recommended
- Tablet (Apple iOS, Android)
- Smartphone (Apple iOS, Android)
Using Zoom for Courses
The following is a list of resources that will help you get the most out of your NDSU Zoom account.
- If you are new to NDSU, Activate Your NDSU Zoom Account
- Download and install the Zoom desktop client on your device and make sure it is up-to-date.
- To personalize your account, you can set notifications and add a profile picture.
- Come to class prepared
- Log in early
- Test camera and microphone (if you are having technical issues, contact the IT Service Center)
- Familiarize yourself with the different Zoom features
- Raising your hand
- Chatting
- Screen Sharing
- The whiteboard
- Your instructor may utilize breakout rooms for small group discussions and presentations.
- Schedule your own Zoom meeting
- Your instructor may utilize the polling feature in Zoom to engage students with either single or multiple-choice questions for their course session.
