Course Copy Tool in Blackboard Original and Ultra Course

In order to copy a course content in Blackboard Learn from one course to another, you must be an instructor in the course you want to copy and the destination course.

Note: If you plan to merge several courses, merge the courses first and then copy content into the merged (master) course. Content copied into course sections before merging is NOT available in the merged course.

  1. Log into Blackboard Learn and open the course you want to copy from. For example, if you want to copy the previous semester to the new semester (example: Spring 2023 course content to Spring 2024, start by opening the Spring 2023 course) always start with the previous course.
  2. Scroll down to the Control Panel
  3. Open Packages and Utilities
  4. Click on Course Copy
  5. There are four sections on the Course Copy Page

      5. Note: if you choose parts of the course and would like to include assignments/tests, you MUST also check "Grade Center Columns and Settings" and "Settings" to ensure the working links will be established in your Destination Course
      6. Test assignment grade center setting
    3. File Attachments – it is best to select Copy links and copies of the content (include entire course home folder) to avoid any permission errors that may occur with attached files
    4. Enrollments – do NOT check the box to Include Enrollments in the copy (you only need the content)
    5. Review what you have selected and click Submit when finished
  1. You will receive an email from Blackboard letting you know when the copy process has been completed.

    1. Remove any duplicate menu items and content from older courses that were copied over and will not be used.
