Respondus LockDown Browser End of Support – FAQ

Common questions and answers are listed in this FAQ article. We continue to update as we find additional questions and answers.

1. What is NDSU’s official proctoring solution?

Honorlock is NDSU’s official proctoring solution. NDSU adopted Honorlock in Fall 2025. For more information, visit the Honorlock- Instructor Information page.

2. Is Respondus LockDown Browser still supported at NDSU?

No. Respondus LockDown Browser (RLB) is no longer supported by NDSU as of July 1, 2026.
RLB remained available during the transition to Honorlock but is no longer a supported proctoring solution at NDSU.

3. Why do I still see Respondus LockDown Browser in Blackboard?

Instructors may still see Respondus LockDown Browser under Assessment Security in the Blackboard settings panel. Due to the current NDUS Blackboard system configuration, RLB cannot yet be disabled. NDSU is working with CTS to address this.

4. Can I still use Respondus LockDown Browser if I see it in Blackboard?

Respondus LockDown Browser may still be accessible in Blackboard while the option remains visible. However, RLB is no longer supported by NDSU, and technical support or troubleshooting cannot be provided for the tool. Instructors should use Honorlock, NDSU’s supported proctoring solution, for their proctoring needs.

5. Where can I find information about using Honorlock?

Instructions and additional information about Honorlock are available on the Honorlock- Instructor Information page.
