PointSolutions Student Getting Started
Below is an overview for students using PointSolutions and Blackboard at NDSU.
If you have not done so, create a PointSolutions account. To learn more, visit the Creating a PointSolutions Account KB page.
Mobile App
If your instructor allows, you can download the free PointSolutions Mobile app from your device's app store and use your mobile device to respond to "clicker" questions in class. Students can use the same device for multiple classes during the same semester.
Clicker Information
If your instructor requires a clicker, you can purchase one through the NDSU Bookstore. Students should not purchase used clickers from Amazon/eBay.
Getting started using your clicker device
By default, PointSolutions clicker devices connect to Channel 41. Each classroom has a designated channel, which will be displayed on the instructor’s screen or communicated by the instructor. A channel number is not required when responding from a mobile device.
Changing the device channel
- Press the CH key on the left side of the clicker device above the keypad.
- In the "New Channel?" prompt, enter the correct channel number (1-74).
- Press the up arrow key below OK.
- The channel number should be displayed in the top-left corner of the response window.
Adding a clicker to an existing PointSolutions account
You MUST register your PointSolutions clicker via Blackboard to ensure that points are associated with the Gradebook.
- Log in to Blackboard using your NDUS credentials.
- Enter the course that is using PointSolutions.
- On the right-hand side, under Details and Actions, click Books and Tools.
- Scroll down and find PointSolutions Account Registration - NDSU, then click on it.
- At the common Login Page for PointSolutions Account, you will need to enter your Bison Login (typically your first.lastname).
- Under Response Devices, enter your clicker ID number.
