Wireless Internet
The university's wireless network provides students, faculty, staff and authorized guests with wireless Internet access on all NDSU campuses, including the main campus, downtown campus and the NDSU Nursing at Sanford Health campus in Bismarck. A one-time device setup is required to connect wirelessly from anywhere on campus.
Overview
There are three wireless network SSIDs available on NDSU's campus:
- Wireless - Eduroam : Education roaming, or eduroam, is a global internet access service that provides you with secure wireless Internet access at NDSU and at other educational institutions that are part of the eduroam network. Connecting to the network requires installing a security certificate on your device. This network is recommended for faculty, staff, and students, and is the preferred network for laptops, tablets and smartphones. Guests to our campus from other institutions that use eduroam will also be able to connect.
- Wireless - Internet of Things (IoT) : The NDSU IoT wireless network is available for students living in the Residence Halls who need to connect media streaming and gaming devices to the campus wireless network. NDSU IoT is designed for devices that must connect wirelessly, but are not compatible with the WPA2 Enterprise authentication required to connect to the eduroam network.
- Wireless - Guest Network : The NDSU Guest network provides wireless internet access for guests sponsored by NDSU employees. The NDSU employee must first generate a password to grant guest access to the network. This network uses a less secure connection and is limited in terms of allowed Internet access. This network is also useful for conferences and events hosted by departments.
