Using the Document Camera in a Videoconference Call
Below are the instructions on how to use the document camera in an instrumented classroom at NDSU while in a videoconference call.
First, please make sure that you are in Webconference Mode on the Crestron touch screen. Next, for any web conference software option, switch to the Document Camera input on the Crestron touch screen in the classroom.
Option 1: Using the Windows Camera App
The camera app will show the Document Camera as an input, and can be used to easily switch between the document camera and another open item, like a PowerPoint presentation.
Zoom
- From a zoom call, select the “Share” option
- For classrooms with multiple monitors, select the screen you wish to share
- After sharing the screen, use the windows search tool to open the camera app
- Cycle through the camera inputs using the Change Camera icon in the camera app until the document camera image appears on your screen
Class Collaborate Ultra

Option 2: Directly presenting the camera image
Using the document camera as a video input will allow for a larger and better view, but will not easily allow for switching between the camera and another application that might be during a lecture, such as a video or PowerPoint.
Zoom
- From a zoom call, select the “Share” option and navigate to the “Advanced” tab along the top. From there, select the option for “Content from 2nd Camera”
- After sharing the camera, cycle through the camera inputs using the “Switch Camera” icon
Class Collaborate Ultra
- From a Collaborate session, select the “Share Camera” option.
- After opening the panel, select the document camera from the list of devices
- Selecting any of the listed cameras will show a preview, so the correct camera can be chosen
Microsoft Teams
- From a Teams call, select the “Camera” option to enable the camera
- If the camera does not show the correct image, navigate to the device settings
- Select the document camera input from the drop-down menu under the “Camera” heading
