Determining Printer IP Address

This document tells you how to determine the IP address for the most common printers.

To obtain the IP address for the printer, it is recommended to be at the printer. It may be helpful to print these instructions and take them with you if it is located in another room.

Examples of the two relative pieces of information are:
  • Hardware Address (MAC address): 001E68GH01AB 
  • IP Address: 134.129.256.256 

Checking the Printer Display 

N.B: Steps may vary depending on the printer model

Printers with LCD Control Panel 

  1. Press the OK button on the printer control panel to display the Home screen
  2. Use the arrow buttons to navigate and look for: Setup → Network Setup → Administrator Settings
  3. Locate the option for displaying the IP Address

Printers with Touchscreen 

  1. Access the printer's Menu or Settings
  2. Navigate to Network or Wireless settings
  3. Look for an option like "View Network Setting" or "View IP Configuration" 
  4. The IP address should be listed under TCP/IP or IP Address

Checking on the Device 

On Windows 

  1. Open Control Panel or Settings, and navigate to Devices and Printers
  2. Find your printer in the list and click on it
  3. Select Properties from the context menu
  4. Go to the Ports tab, and the IP address will be displayed next to the printer name

On macOS 

  1. Click on the Apple menu and select System Preferences
  2. Choose Printers & Scanners
  3. Select your printer from the list
  4. Click on Options & Supplies
  5. Go to the General or Utility tab, and the IP address will be listed
