Create a VoiceThread Assignment/Discussion

Assignment Builder

To create an assignment in VoiceThread, select Assignment Builder from the Choose an Activity Type page.

Follow the instructions below to create the type of assignment you need. This section also includes information on creating rubrics and grading VoiceThread assignments.

  • Setting up a create-a-VoiceThread assignment - Ideal for presentations, demonstrations, and projects. Students create and submit their own VoiceThread by adding slides and recording comments. Instructors can also enable a Student Gallery for peer review and discussion.
  • Setting up a commenting assignment (Discussion) - Ideal for graded discussions. Students comment on a VoiceThread created by the instructor, and instructors can require a specific number of comments and allow students to add slides. Threaded commenting can also be enabled so students can reply and engage in conversations with one another.
  • Setting up a watch assignment - Ideal for lectures, required course content, compliance, or training activities. Students are required to watch the instructor’s VoiceThread in full, including 100% of the slides and comments.
  • Stacked Assignments - Allows instructors to build a Comment assignment based on a previous VoiceThread assignment; allowing students to participate in follow-up discussions or provide peer feedback on previously created VoiceThread in an earlier VoiceThread assignment
  • Grading assignments
  • Rubrics
  • Reconnecting an assignment
  • Course Copying
