Add the Student Course Experience Survey (SmartEvals) to Blackboard

SmartEvals was a part of your course shell when the course was first created. However, if the survey link was deleted, use the following steps to add the link back into your course.

How to Add the SmartEvals Link for Your Students

  1. Log into Blackboard and open your course.
  2. Go to the "Content" tab in the course content area and select the plus sign (+) icon in the location where you would like the SmartEvals Link to appear.

  3. Click on Content Market from the available options.

  4. Scroll down to find SmartEvals and click on the plus sign (+) next to it.

  5. This survey link will now appear in the location you selected in the content area of your course.

  6. Click the three dots in the top right corner of the SmartEvals link and click Edit.

  7. To edit the title, click the title at the top, where the word "SmartEvals" is displayed. A pencil will also appear when you hover over the title with your mouse.

  8. Change the name to NDSU Student Course Experience Survey (SmartEvals).
  9. Click inside the description box, where "Add a description" is displayed.
  10. Type or paste the following description:
    Use this link to access your portal for the official NDSU Student Course Experience Surveys(SCES). Surveys are open the last 3 weeks of the semester, not including finals week. Your portal will include surveys for each of your enrolled classes, and if you had more than one instructor, you can complete survey items for each. Your feedback is important for helping instructors and NDSU improve the student course experience. The surveys are confidential and shared with instructors without student names and as a group for the class, including item response averages and percentages. If you have any questions, please contact ndsu.otl@ndsu.edu or call 701-231-7102. 
  11. Click the Hidden from students drop-down menu and select Visible to students.
  12. Hit Save.
  13. The survey link will now appear in your course with the correct name and description.
