Session Dates

  • Level 1, Becoming an Ally: Tuesday, Oct. 13

  • Level 2, Gender Identity and Expression: Tuesday, Oct. 20

  • Level 3, Upstander: Tuesday, Oct. 27

How to Register

About the Levels

Level 1 is an introduction to sexual orientation as it relates to NDSU students, faculty, and staff. Topics include relevant terminology, the coming out process, and how to be an ally. Attending Level 1 does not require you to become a Safe Zone Ally, but it is a prerequisite for the later levels.

Level 2 explores in greater depth the experiences of people who identify as transgender, with attention to gender identity and expression, university policy, and lived experience. Level 1 is required first.

Level 3 helps Safe Zone Allies build their skills and comfort moving from passive bystander to active upstander. You must attend Levels 1 and 2 first.

About Safe Zone

  • Educates people about sexual orientation and gender identity and expression.

  • Creates a visible network of Allies who support the NDSU LGBTQ+ community.

  • Provides accurate information about sexual orientation and gender identity and expression, including issues and resources within the community.
