The Department of Political Science and Public Policy welcomes elections scholar Barry Burden to campus Oct. 1 for a talk on the state of U.S. election administration ahead of the 2026 midterms.
The Department of Political Science and Public Policy hosts the next Curtis Amlund Speaker Series lecture at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, in Minard 230. The speaker is Barry Burden, professor of political science, director of the Elections Research Center, and the Lyons Family Chair in Electoral Politics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Burden's talk, “Challenges and Resilience in U.S. Elections,” looks at the threats election administration has faced in recent years and assesses how ready government officials, stakeholders and the public are to respond as the 2026 midterm elections again test election infrastructure.
The event is free and open to students, faculty, staff and the community.
