Indigenous Smudging and Blessing Ceremony Set for Sept. 1

Spiritual Leader Mike Gabbard and Indigenous members of the NDSU community will open the academic year with a ceremony in the Anishinaabe Theater, and everyone is welcome to attend.

Residence Life and the Center for Community and Belonging invite the campus community to an Indigenous Smudging and Blessing Ceremony from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1 in the Anishinaabe Theater, Memorial Union.
Spiritual Leader Mike Gabbard will lead the ceremony alongside Indigenous members of the NDSU community. The gathering is a chance to start the school year together with an open heart, a clear mind, and a healthy soul.
The event is open to everyone. Organizers ask only that attendees come with an open mind to learn.
About the New Beginnings Grant
The New Beginnings Grant is a USDA grant designed to improve the experience of Indigenous students on campus, including retention, recruiting, and hosting activities that focus on Indigenous culture and practices.
