Explore NDSU's Education-Related Graduate Certificates

The Graduate School is highlighting nine education-focused graduate certificates that let anyone with a bachelor's degree build specialized skills in three or four courses.

The Graduate School admissions team is sharing information this summer about graduate certificates offered at NDSU. This installment features education-related certificates, listed below with the courses each one includes.

If you have a bachelor's degree, you are eligible to apply for a graduate certificate. Most certificates include three or four courses. Earning one lets you gain specialized knowledge, strengthen your resume or C.V., and, if you are interested in the related master's program, complete a significant portion of the required coursework.

Education-Related Certificates

  • Adult Learning: Adult Learning, Foundations of Occupational & Adult Education, and Instructional Methods for Adult Learners.
  • Advanced Coaching Education: Psychology of Sport and Physical Activity, Positive Youth Development in Physical Activity and Sport, and one elective.
  • Advanced Physical Education Teaching: Physical Education Curriculum and two electives.
  • College Teaching (open to students enrolled in an NDSU degree program or NDSU employees): several electives such as Teaching Workshop for Writing Instructors and Emerging Trends in Teaching and Learning Online.
  • Computer Science Education: Introduction to Computer Science Education, Problem Solving in Computer Science Education, Introduction to Computer Programming, Data Structures and Algorithms, and two electives.
  • Extension Education: course options include Designing Nonformal Education Programs, Experiential and Learner-Centered Instruction, and Program Planning in School-Based and Extension Programs.
  • Public Policy Evaluation: Policy Design and Evaluation, and two additional courses.
  • Student Affairs Administration: Collegiate Environments, Theories of College Student Development, Higher Education Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, and Career Counseling and Testing.
  • Supervision and Management in Physical Education and Coaching: course options include Leadership and Supervision in Physical Education and Sport Coaching, Ethical Leadership in Coaching Sports, and Principles of Management in Physical Education and Coaching Settings.
