Posted: 2026-06-26 13:40:55   Expiration: 2026-11-10 13:40:55

The Office of the Provost has scheduled three fall sessions of Searching for Excellence, the training required for anyone chairing an academic search within three years before a position is posted.

The Office of the Provost has set fall dates for Searching for Excellence, NDSU's search committee training. The sessions are open to all search committee members and required for anyone who plans to chair an academic search. You do not need an active search to attend, and committees are encouraged to train ahead of time so they are ready when a hire is approved.

Anyone planning to chair an academic search, including faculty, lecturers, research scientists, administrators, and postdocs, is required to complete the training in full within the three years before their position is posted. The training covers the procedural steps of a search along with research-based strategies for recognizing and reducing bias in recruiting and screening, so committees can select the strongest candidate.

Fall Training Dates

  • Thursday, September 17, from 1 to 3 p.m. via Zoom
  • Wednesday, October 7, from 9 to 11 a.m. via Zoom
  • Tuesday, November 10, from 9 to 11 a.m. via Zoom
  • Additional dates will be scheduled soon.

Sessions offered via Zoom count as in-person attendance. A Zoom link will be emailed to registered participants a few days before each session.
