Explore NDSU Graduate Certificates in Agriculture

The Graduate School is spotlighting agriculture-related graduate certificates this summer, a short path for anyone with a bachelor's degree to build specialized skills.

This summer, the Graduate School admissions team is sharing information about graduate certificates offered at NDSU. The current spotlight is on certificates related to agriculture.

If you have a bachelor's degree, you are eligible to apply for a graduate certificate. Most certificates include three or four courses.

Why Earn a Graduate Certificate

  • Gain specialized knowledge in a focused area.
  • Enhance your resume or C.V.
  • Complete a significant portion of the required coursework if you are interested in the related master's program.

Agriculture-Related Certificates

  • Critical Skills in Agricultural Sciences: The Science Toolkit: Skills for Scientific Success, Scientific Integrity, and two electives.
  • Crop Production: Soil Testing Basics, Soil Conservation for Practitioners, and two electives.
  • Crop Protection: Fundamental Plant Pathology, Principles of Weed Science, and one elective.
  • Food Safety: Food Laws and Regulations, Food Safety, and Food Microbiology.
  • Horticulture Management: Vegetable Crop Production, Arboriculture Science, and others.
  • Leadership & Managerial Skills: Leading and Managing Teams, Management Decision Making, and others.
  • Malting & Brewing: Cereal Technology, Cereal and Food Fermentation, Malting and Brewing, Food Microbiology, and Food Microbiology Lab.
  • Milling, Baking & Pasta Making: Cereal Technology, Fundamentals of Flour Testing and Baking, Milling, and Pasta Processing.
  • One Health: One Health, Epidemiology or Essentials of Epidemiology, and one elective.
  • Plant Pathology: Fundamental Plant Pathology, Principles of Plant Disease Management, Plant Disease Diagnostics and Quantification, Practices of Plant Disease Management Research, and one elective.
  • Professional Writing: Usability and User Experience, International Technical Writing, Researching and Writing Grants and Proposals, and one elective.
  • Quantitative Genetics: Data Analyses and Designs of Experiments, Population and Quantitative Genetics, and others.
  • Rangeland Ecology & Management: Rangeland Ecology and Management Certificate Capstone, plus electives such as Fire Ecology and Rangeland Management and Rangeland Resources Watershed Management.
  • Soil Conservation & Management: Soil Testing Basics, Soil Conservation for Practitioners, and two electives.
  • Sustainable Agriculture & Ecosystem Services: Biotechnology for Sustainability, Microbial Biotechnology, Soils and Land Use, and others.
