Updated PTE and PTR Resources and Session Registration Now Available

Faculty Affairs has refreshed its guidance for portfolio candidates, early-career faculty, and reviewers, and opened registration for information and training sessions running from June 2026 through February 2027.

Updated resources for PTE candidates, early-career faculty, and PTE reviewers are now available on the Faculty Affairs PTE website. The same page hosts registration links for the candidate information sessions, reviewer training sessions, and the new PTR sessions described below.

Recent updates to the guidance and procedures came directly from faculty feedback. Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs Carrie Anne Platt welcomes questions and suggestions on how to continue improving the PTE and PTR processes.

Information Sessions

Candidates and early-career faculty are encouraged to register for the summer information sessions. Those who cannot attend the June and July sessions can request a copy of the Zoom recording from Ann Fredrickson (ann.fredrickson@ndsu.edu).

  • PTE Information Session for Fall 2026 Candidates, focused on conveying accomplishments in the portfolio and understanding the review process: Thursday, June 25, 2026, 10 to 11 a.m., via Zoom. Register
  • PTE Information Session for Early-Career Faculty, focused on aligning efforts with PTE criteria and tracking portfolio-relevant information: Wednesday, July 1, 2026, 2 to 3 p.m., via Zoom. Register
  • PTR Information Session for Spring 2027 Candidates, focused on articulating how faculty activity meets PTR expectations and understanding the review process: Thursday, January 14, 2027, 9 to 10 a.m., MU Badlands. Register

Reviewer Training Sessions

Those who will review PTE or PTR portfolios in AY2026-2027 are encouraged to register for the training sessions below. All PTE committee chairs must have completed this training within the past three years to meet Policy 352 requirements. Department-level and college-level training sessions for all members of a PTE or PTR committee are also available upon request.

  • PTE Training for Fall 2026 Reviewers (committee members, chairs and heads, and deans), focused on reviewing, discussing, and assessing candidate records in line with PTE criteria: Wednesday, September 2, 2026, 9 to 10:30 a.m., MU Badlands. Register
  • PTE Training for Fall 2026 Reviewers (repeat session): Thursday, September 3, 2026, 9 to 10:30 a.m., MU Badlands. Register
  • PTE Training for Fall 2026 Reviewers (repeat session): Friday, September 18, 2026, 9 to 10:30 a.m., via Zoom. Register
  • PTR Training for Spring 2027 Reviewers (PTE and PTR committee members, chairs and heads, and deans), focused on conducting equitable reviews of the post-tenure record and following the new PTR DocuSign processes: Thursday, February 4, 2027, 1 to 2:30 p.m., MU Badlands. Register
