NDSU’s Restorative Practices Network (RPN) is a volunteer group composed of trained staff and faculty working to support the use of restorative principles and practices at NDSU.

NDSU’s Restorative Practices Network (RPN) is a volunteer group composed of trained staff and faculty working to support the use of restorative principles and practices at NDSU. RPN supports our community through hosting regular and responsive talking circles on a wide range of topics and current events.

Students, faculty, and staff can invite a trained circle keeper into your hosted event or meeting. A trained facilitator will work with you to plan the details of the circle.

We also encourage NDSU community members to keep an eye on upcoming announcements, as introductory talking circles and other planned circles are regularly facilitated on campus!

Talking Circles

Talking circles are opportunities for community members to participate in an intentional dialogue in a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space. Each talking circle is led by a trained circle keeper. Circle keepers facilitate a conversation where participants are able to actively listen to one another while taking turns speaking to ensure that all can participate equally and respectfully. Both talking circles and restorative practices are rooted in Indigenous practices.

If you are interested in attending our meetings or becoming a trained facilitator, please email us at ndsu.rpn@ndsu.edu.

RPN is hosted by the Dean of Students Office. For questions about the RPN at NDSU, contact Assistant Dean of Students Matt Diischer at matt.diischer@ndsu.edu
