Supported Operating Systems and Core Applications

This document shows the supported and non-supported operating systems and core application software.

IT Supported Operating Systems

  • Windows 10 Education 21H1
  • Windows 10 Education 20H2
  • Mac OS 11.6 (M1 and Intel paths, Big Sur)
  • Mac OS 10.15 (Intel path, Catalina)
  • Mac OS 10.14 (Intel path,  Mojave - sunsetted)
  • Mac iOS (very limited)

Non-Supported Operating Systems

  • Windows 10 Education version 2004 or below
  • Windows 10 Home versions
  • Windows 10 Enterprise (not available under Microsoft Agreement)
  • Windows 8 and below (includes DOS)
  • Mac OS 12 (M1 and Intel paths, Monterey - though released by Apple, not yet supported at NDSU)
  • Mac OS 10.14 and lower
  • Any non-Windows/Mac OS (Android, Linux, BSD, Solaris, etc)

IT Supported Core Applications

  • Microsoft Office 19
  • Microsoft Office 16 (sunsetted)
  • Microsoft Edge (Chromium, Windows-only, typically latest)
  • Chrome (typically latest)
  • Firefox (typically latest)
  • Safari (Mac-only)

Non-Supported Core Applications

  • Microsoft Office 2021 (though released by Microsoft, not yet supported at NDSU)
  • Microsoft Office 16 and lower
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer (all versions)
  • Chrome (non-current versions)
  • Firefox (non-current versions)
  • Safari (Mac-only, non-current versions)
