New Respondus 4.0 Users

Below are instructions on how to download and install Respondus 4.0.

Start Here: Download the installation file - this goes to the NDSU Software Downloads SharePoint site; if prompted to log in using your NDSU credentials (typically your first.lastname).

Downloading Steps:

  1. Save the Respondus4Campus.exe file to your computer
  2. Double-click the Respondus4Campus.exe installation file to begin.
  3. Choose the Setup Language, and click Next.
  4. Click Next to start the InstallShield Wizard.
  5. Accept the license terms, and click Next.
  6. Click Next or Change to select the Destination Location.
  7. Click Next or Change to select the Projects Folder location.
  8. Click Install.
  9. Click Yes to install the Respondus Equation Editor.
  10. If you see this error message, click OK, close any other applications, and try again
  11. Click OK to begin the Equation Editor installation.
  12. Uncheck the View Read Me option, and click OK.
  13. Click Finish.
  14. Double-click the Respondus 4.0 Campus-wide icon to open Respondus.
  15. Enter the Institution Name, Local Support Contacts (Sharley Kurtz), and Installation Password information (from the Software Downloads page) into the spaces provided, and click License.
  16. Click Close to dismiss the Respondus Newsletter prompt.
  17. Select Blackboard from the drop-down list, and click OK.

Attention Current Respondus 4.0 Users 

Respondus 4.0 requires a new installation/activation password each July!

If you have Respondus 4.0 installed on your computer, you must update the activation password to continue using the software after July:

  1. Open the NDSU - Software Downloads page (log in with your NDUS username and password, if prompted).
  2. Copy the Installation Password: (valid through July 31 of each year).
  3. Open Respondus 4.0,  click File, Update License
  4. Paste the new installation/activation password into the Installation Password field, and click License.
