Zoom - Cloud Recordings
Zoom recordings are to be temporarily stored in Zoom. If they need to be kept, they should be moved to permanent file storage.
Zoom is a solution for web conferencing, and while it has a storage capability, the storage costs are far greater than other solutions NDSU provides.
Storage Purges
Should I keep my Zoom recordings?
If your recording contains FERPA protected data (a class, for example), you will not be able to share or reuse this recording with future terms. We do not recommend keeping these, as they become a security risk to keep student data beyond the term it is necessary.
You may choose to keep a guest speaker/lecturer, so long as there are not student chats, attendee lists, or videos in the recording that would include student information.
If any of these recordings that will be deleted may be considered records, please consult your Unit Record Coordinator. See Records Management - FAQ for a definition of a record.
How do I download my Zoom recordings?
Instructions for downloading your Zoom recordings can be found on Zoom's support website.
Where should I store my Zoom recordings?
Go to File Storage, Sharing, and Collaboration for storage options provided by NDSU IT.
