Zoom Rooms are the newest addition we have made to our Instrumented Classrooms. They provide a high quality and simplified Zoom web conference experience.

Overview

Zoom Rooms at NDSU provides a quick and easy way to connect to your class or meeting using the familiar Crestron touchscreen. One simple button push will connect your classroom to your Zoom connection. No more need for links, accessing your email, or struggling through source selections. Everything is highly integrated and customized to provide the best possible user experience.

Requirements

Zoom Rooms must be installed by IT before they are available on classroom instructor stations.

Getting Started

In order to use Zoom Rooms in our Instrumented Classrooms at NDSU, first wake the Crestron touchscreen on the instructor station and select "Start a Zoom Rooms Call". In order to have your Zoom connection available for quick start in your classroom, please make sure to add the Zoom Room as an alternative host to your Zoom connection.
 
If your classroom is using the SMART podium as the Zoom Rooms Controller: Find your class in the list of meetings on the SMART podium and select "Start".
If your classroom is using the touchscreen as the Zoom Rooms Controller: Push the "Open Zoom Rooms Controls" button, then find your class name and select "Start".
You will now be connected to your call and see the new Zoom Rooms control page from which you can make any necessary adjustments to your call.
If your classroom is using the touchscreen as the Zoom Rooms controller, you can return to the In-Room controls page by pushing the "Home" icon on the right side bezel of the Crestron touchscreen.

Best Practices

Zoom Rooms at NDSU are most useful when a quick start into your Zoom call is needed. Zoom Rooms connections are able to share content (computer, laptop, document camera) during the call.
Make sure to schedule your automatic meeting recording at the same time you schedule the rest of your Zoom Meeting connection. Starting the recording manually from the Zoom Room computer may save this recording in the Zoom Room account rather than your own. Should this happen, please contact the IT Help Desk and we can provide you access to the recording.
