Introduction and common tasks using Grouper

    Sign in

    Sign in to Grouper

    Find the groups you manage

    Under Quick links in the left column, click My groups

    • The Groups I manage tab shows you groups you are a manager of
    • The My memberships tab shows you which groups you are a member of
    • The Groups I can join tab shows groups that you can self-service join as a member

    Add members

    1. Under Quick links in the left column, click My groups
    2. On the Groups I manage tab, click the name of the group you want to add members to from the Group name column
      • Make sure you choose the group with Add/Remove in the name.
        For example, to add to "Account Support Admin" click "Account Support Admin Add/Remove."

    3. Click the +Add members button at the top right of the page
    4. Type the name, username, or ID number of the person you would like to add in the Member name or ID field

    5. Click on the correct person from the drop-down list that displays
    6. (optionally) Select the dates you would like membership to begin and end
    7. Click Add

    Remove members

    1. Under Quick Links in the left column, click My Groups
    2. On the Groups I manage tab, click the name of the group you want to remove members from in the Group name column
      • Make sure you choose the group with "Add/Remove" in the name
    3. Check the checkbox next to the person you would like to remove
    4. Click the Remove selected members button above the list of members

    View group membership

    1. Under Quick Links in the left column, click My Groups
    2. On the Groups I manage tab, click the name of the group for which you want to view membership
    3. The list shows everyone who is currently in the group. The Membership column indicates how they were added
      • Direct membership means the user is added directly to this group
      • Indirect membership means the user is a member of another group that is a a member of this group
        • The group that contains indirect members is listed among the members; click its name to see its members
      • View groups that this group is a member of by clicking the More tab and choosing This group’s memberships in other groups

    ADSF, ADS, CMS, and other groups

    ADSF
    Active Directory Shared Folder. These are S or X drives
    ADS
    Active Directory Services. The are groups used to manage access to workstations or other permissions for things connected to AD
    CMS
    Content Management System. These groups are used to manage access to CMS pages as authors or publishers. CMS (Manager) - Grant/Revoke Workspace Permissions
    Others
    Auto-populated Listserv lists and other entitlements will not have a prefix associated with them, but should have descriptive names.

    How to make an Owner or Manager change

    Owners of groups have the ability to make Owner/Manager changes. They can do so by using the above instructions for adding or removing members, but choosing the Owner or Manager group instead of the Add/Remove group as appropriate.

    Listserv

    Email lists populated via Grouper will be processed every morning. This means any changes you make to list membership will not apply until the following day. Other aspects of group management are the same as other Grouper groups.
