DEA Process - State Registration
STATE REGISTRATION
North Dakota does not require or issue registrations for the research use of controlled substances. Instead, researchers must obtain a Letter of No Objection from the Executive Director of the North Dakota Board of Pharmacy. Submit the following to the Executive Director of the North Dakota State Board of Pharmacy on NDSU letterhead stationery:
- A copy of research protocols, including IACUC, IBC, and/or IRB approval
- A list of the controlled substances to be used and the approximate quantities of each that will be used on an annual basis, and the quantity intended to be on hand at any one time.
- The address at which these controlled substances will be stored.
- Security requirements employed for their storage.
- A list of those who will have access to the controlled substances and how the usage will be recorded.
- A list of your anticipated suppliers – their address and DEA Registration.
Upon approval, the State Board of Pharmacy will issue a Letter of No Objection to the applicant and the DEA Office.
