Student Employment - Assistant Network Infrastructure Engineer
Under the guidance of Network Infrastructure Engineers, complete a variety of tasks related to network equipment preparation, setup and installation. Also, work with inside and outside network and telecommunications cabling and cabling infrastructures.
Hours Per Week: 15-20 hours per week
Starting Wage: $16.75 / hour (potentially more depending on related experience/courses)
Reports To: Director, Enterprise Networks
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Unpackage, inventory and prepare equipment for installation
- Work as a team member to install equipment at various locations on campus
- Work with network structured wiring
- Gather information and conduct research on various data center equipment and related items
- Assist other team members with administrative tasks and other non-technical work
- Complete wireless surveys and network port audits
- Complete low priority network service orders when assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Good people skills
- Ability to work with simple hand tools
- Good written and communication skills
- Current NDSU enrolled student
- Basic working knowledge of computers
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds frequently
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity of networking equipment
- Experience working with simple power tools
- Ability to understand building floor plans
