Phishing Alert: Beware of email and text scams
9/2025
Scammers are sending fake text messages that pretend to be from the North Dakota Department of Revenue or other government agencies. The texts ask you to click a link and share personal or banking information. This is a phishing scam. Phishing scams happen in email and text messages, so please be vigilant for any scams that target us at NDSU.
Example scam text:
"Your refund request has been processed and approved. Please provide accurate payment information by September 12, 2025..."
What you should do:
- Don't click the link, reply, or share any info. Never share your NDSU or NDUS passwords, especially when the credentials are requested from a link in an email, and don't approve Duo pushes unless you started the login.
- Remember: Financial aid or refund info will never come by text—only through official NDSU or NDUS email.
- Report it fast - Forward the email to ndsu.reportaphish@ndsu.edu. If you happened to click on a link and give your credentials, call the IT Service Center ASAP. NDSU does not provide your cell phone service, so we can't do anything about fraudulent text messages, it is up to you to ignore them.
Help us keep the NDSU community and your own accounts safe—don't take the bait!
Contact the IT Service Center at 701-231-8685 or ndsu.itservice@ndsu.edu if you have questions or need assistance.
Blackboard Class Collaborate Discontinued
5/2025
Over the past year, usage reports for Blackboard Collaborate have been decreasing. To provide a consistent student experience, NDSU is discontinuing the use of Blackboard Collaborate after December 2025. Since it provides seamless integration into Blackboard, Zoom is recommended for synchronous class sessions. Microsoft Teams is also available, however, it is not integrated into Blackboard. If you have any questions, please submit an IT Services Ticket.
W.W. Norton Now Upgraded to LTI 1.3
05/2020
The upgrade to W.W. Norton LTI 1.3 is now complete! Existing course links created using LTI 1.1 will continue to work seamlessly with no change to the user experience. As part of the upgrade, faculty will now see a new tool in the Books and Tools menu called W.W. Norton Deep Linking. This tool allows for easier integration of new titles. W.W. Norton is available to assist individual faculty with using the new tool, and additional guidance can be found on the W.W. Norton Blackboard Help page.
ADA Compliance Update
12/2024
Due to a recent ruling from the Department of Justice regarding digital accessibility and ADA compliance, NDSU will work to discontinue the use of the legacy Blackboard platform and move to Blackboard Ultra by spring 2026. This will allow instructors to have an easier time complying with ADA requirements and provide a more consistent and accessible student experience. The Provost's Office is partnering with IT to ensure all departments get the training they need for this transition, and department heads will schedule consultations with Instructional Design staff so that full departments can be supported and trained as a cohort throughout 2025. The process will take each cohort around 4 weeks to complete with consultations.
