What is Microsoft Clipchamp?
Microsoft Clipchamp is a browser-based video editing tool that allows users to create and edit videos using a simple drag-and-drop interface. It includes features such as customizable templates, stock media, screen and webcam recording, and AI-generated voiceovers. Clipchamp is integrated into Windows 11 and is available to all NDSU users with a Microsoft 365 account.

Who can use Clipchamp in NDSU?
All current NDSU students, faculty, and staff with an active university Microsoft 365 account have access to Clipchamp. There is no additional cost to use the tool.

How do I access Clipchamp?
You can access Clipchamp by signing into your university Microsoft 365 account. Once logged in, navigate to the Apps section and select Clipchamp from the list of available applications. If you're using a Windows 11 device, you can also open the Clipchamp app directly from the Start menu.

Can I use templates in Clipchamp?
Yes, Clipchamp offers a variety of customizable templates for different types of videos, including social media posts, presentations, and promotional content. You can select a template and then personalize it with your own text, images, and video clips.

Does Clipchamp support screen recording?
Yes, Clipchamp includes built-in screen recording features. You can record your screen, webcam, or both at the same time. This is especially useful for creating instructional videos, class lectures, or software demonstrations.

Can I add music or voiceovers to my video?
Yes. You can upload your own audio files, use royalty-free music from Clipchamp’s stock library, or generate voiceovers using the AI text-to-speech feature. This allows you to add narration or background music to enhance your video.

How do I save and/or export my project?
Clipchamp automatically stores your progress in the cloud if you're signed in. To export your video, click the “Export” button in the top right corner. You can choose from different resolutions, including 480p, 720p, and 1080p. Once exported, you can download the video to your device or save it to OneDrive.

Can I share my video directly to platforms like YouTube or Teams?
Yes, Clipchamp allows you to share your finished video directly to platforms such as YouTube, Google Drive, OneDrive, and Microsoft Teams. After exporting, you’ll see sharing options that let you connect your accounts and publish your video.

My video won’t export—what should I do?
If your video fails to export, try the following steps: check your internet connection, clear your browser cache, and restart Clipchamp. If the issue continues, try using a different browser such as Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome. For persistent problems, contact the NDSU IT Help Desk for further assistance.

Clipchamp is not loading or crashes frequently. What can I check?
First, ensure that your browser is up to date and that you’re using a supported browser like Chrome or Edge. Also, check that hardware acceleration is enabled in your browser settings. If the issue continues, try restarting your device or accessing Clipchamp from a different computer. For additional help, reach out to the NDSU IT Help Desk.
