Blackboard Ultra FAQs for Students

Common questions and answers are listed in this Blackboard Ultra FAQ article. We continue to update as we find additional questions and answers.

1. Why are we switching to Ultra, and how is it different from Original?

Blackboard Ultra functions the same as Original, but it comes with design changes. Ultra is modernized, making it easier to use and navigate (especially on mobile). We are switching to Ultra as it is more accessible for all users. 

2. Will submitting assignments and taking tests be different?

Functions within Ultra are essentially the same as Original, but there are design changes. In both systems, when the assignment or test is selected, students can attach files in their assignment and start taking their test when they enter. The only major difference is taking a Respondus Lockdown Browser test. 

3. How do I take a Respondus Lockdown Browser Exam? 

Make sure you have Respondus Lockdown Browser downloaded. Open your exam and start your attempt. Select “Open LockDown Browser” in the popup window. 

4. I don't see all of my courses in Blackboard Ultra that I registered for in Campus Connection.

There may be different reasons why you don't see them in Blackboard yet:

a) If it has been less than one business day since you registered for the course in Campus Connection, it may take up to 48 hours to populate into Blackboard Learn Original courses. 

b) The course may not be displayed along with your other Current Courses. Use the Search and/or Filter options available on the Courses page to locate the course. 

5. Can I access courses from my previous semesters? 

No, unfortunately, students will not have access to courses from previous semesters. If you need access to materials from a previous semester, you will have to contact the instructor of the course.
