Qualtrics - Display Logic
Display Logic For A Yes/No Question
Example without display logic.
The question says, "Have you used our services in the past?" and the radio button options are Yes or No. In a standard survey set up without a display logic the survey takers will automatically see the next two questions "What services have you previously used?" and "Why haven't you used our services?" To avoid confusion, if a survey taker answers yes to the first question, they should only be able to see the following questions if they are relevant to that answer. In this example, the question "Why haven't you used our services?" is irrelevant.
Steps For Configuring The Display Logic.
To configure the display logic for the question, "What services have you previously used?" We would like the question to be asked only when they answer "yes" to the question "Have you used our services in the past?"
- Check the question "What services have you previously used?"
- Then to the left under Question Behavior, select Display logic.
- Because the display is based on a question, the option to choose here would be "question."
- Choose the question on which the display logic is based.
- Choose the choice on which the display logic is based.
- Choose "Is Selected."
- Check the box next to "in page" (when the choice is selected, the question will appear on the same page).
- Click Save.
Here are the questions once the display logic is applied to the two questions. The appearance has been updated, making it easier to understand the logic. If the logic has to be updated, click the three dots in the blue to change.
