Qualtrics: How to handle non-accessible questions

The accessible question types are changing because Qualtrics is working on creating all the question types accessible. Therefore, NDSU has the non-accessible question types turned off, but the checker will allow the questions to change to accessible.

Simple is a new Qualtrics layout that is now recommended. It is best to start with the layout before building your survey because some questions are still not supported and are grayed out. The Simple layout is more mobile-friendly and allows access to the following question types: Matrix: Likert scale variation, Slider, Drop and Drag Rank Order, and File Upload. When you use the Simple layout, the Next button includes the words, so you don't have to repeat those steps.  Simple does not support the Side by Side question type.

Steps to add Simple layout to a survey

    1. Select the Look and Feel (paint roller)
    2. Select Simple Layout.
    3. The video will show that I had to empty the trash before I could apply the layout because the trash contained a question that was not supported.

    Using NDSU default template

If you use the NDSU default template, you must convert all Matrix questions to Side by Side questions with a single column.

When using the NDSU default template for a rank order question, you will only have radio buttons or write in options. We would need to change the user settings long enough to publish the upload file question using the NDSU default template.  If you do not make these changes before publishing, you will receive an error message about inaccessible questions.
