Student Employment - Turning Specialist

The Turning Specialist will assist the NDSU campus community with Turning questions, training, and projects. The various responsibilities include, but are not limited to: developing both end-user and internal documentation, developing and teaching workshops, and assisting with Service Now (SNOW) tickets as needed. The Turning Specialist will help assist in the LAIC (as needed).

Hours Per Week:  10-25 (10 with Turning Technologies)
Starting Wage: $14.50/hour
Reports To: 
Turning Rep / LAIC Full-time Staff

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform duties and responsibilities of the Learning Technology Assistant (as needed)
  • Assist campus support staff (LAIC and Help Desk) in SNOW
  • Provide training to LIAC student staff and other support staff; LAIC and Help Desk
  • Provide training for faculty
  • Attend initial classes where Turning Technologies are being used for the first time
  • Identify all instructors using Turning Technologies software or clickers on campus
  • Communicate regular feedback to Turning Account Consultant on use of product and campus needs
  • Compile TurningPoint statistics for annual report
  • Follow-up throughout the semester with all Turning Technologies users (primary faculty)
  • Attend regularly-scheduled meetings and training as scheduled by the supervisor and as required by the Student Technology Services (STS) program
  • Continually encourage responsible use of NDSU computers
  • Adhere to Student Technology Services work practices
  • Adhere to NDSU Human Resources policies
  • Maintain a high level of professional competency
  • Deal with sensitive situations and information in a confidential manner
  • Other duties assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills
  • Committed to life-long learning
  • Well-developed computer skills, including multimedia experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Teaching, tutoring, and/or training experience
  • Experience writing documentation
  • Experience making video-based training materials
  • Turning account and experience using clickers
