Getting Ready for the End of the Semester

The following are some useful tips to help you manage your Blackboard course(s).

To use the Checklist offline, please download the fillable PDF for your convenience - Getting Ready for the End of the Semester Checklist

Submitting Grades: Faculty can import final grades into Campus Connection. This integration allows the instructor of record to import final grades from Blackboard Learn Original courses directly into Campus Connection. To learn more about this process visit our Blackboard Learn Original - Final Grade Integration to Campus Connection KB page.

Exporting the Grade Center: Do you prefer to save your Blackboard Learn Original grade book to a file on your computer at the end of the semester? Now is the time. To learn more visit Working Offline with Grade Data.

Export and Archive Courses: NDUS will archive all courses after the end of the semester.  To learn more about this process visit our Export and Archive Courses KB page.

Saving Student Assignments: You can download assignment submissions to review them offline. To learn more visit Download Assignments for more information.

Content Cleanup: It is a recommendation and best practice to limit Blackboard course and organization site size to 1 GB and under. This ensures performance and functionality and reduces storage costs. If you plan to reuse any recordings please beware of the NDSU FERPA Policy. Please view our Blackboard Original Course - Spring Cleanup your Content KB page to know more about course content collection cleanup process.

Zoom Cloud Storage Cleanup: Zoom cloud recordings are meant to be temporary (current semester or less). YuJa or OneDrive should be used for longer-term storage. If you used Zoom during the semester and recorded your class sessions to the cloud, download any recordings you would like to keep and delete the rest. To learn more about this process visit Zoom Cloud Recording Management. If you plan to reuse any recordings please beware of the NDSU FERPA Policy. For more information about the NDSU retention schedule please visit our Video Recording Purge (Delete) Schedule KB page.

Instructional Design: As you start planning for next semester, remember our team of instructional designers is here to help you develop new courses, redesign existing courses, provide course reviews, give recommendations for incorporating new technologies, and more. If you would like to work with an Instructional Designer, please view our Instructional Design Consultations KB page and submit a consultation request.

NEW Ultra Course View Experience: Blackboard Learn Ultra is the most modern, intuitive, and personalized Blackboard Learn user experience. Learn Ultra is characterized by simplified workflows and an accessible, fully responsive design making it easier than ever to teach and learn from any device.
