Safe Computing - Encrypt Individual File(s)

Below is a step by step guide to encrypting files your wish to send
  1. Download and Install 7-Zip
  2. Save the data you are working on and close the application 
  3. Open the 7-Zip File Manager Application
  4. Browse to the location you saved the data 
  5. Select the file(s) (multiple files hold down the ctrl button while selecting) you wish to encrypt 
  6. Click Add 
  7. The Add to Archive window will pop up
  8. You can change the name of the resulting file and location 
  9. !!! – Important – !!! Change Encryption method: to AES-256
  10. Click OK 
  11. This will create a .zip file that will be AES-256 encrypted
  12. You can then send the file to recipient 
  13. Share with the recipient the password using an alternative method, best to give them a phone call to let them know what the password will be.  DO NOT SEND THE PASSWORD WITH THE FILE
