Classroom and Lab Software Installation Request

Departmental/class software must be requested annually. Software requested for fall semester will remain for spring and summer semesters. Spring requests will remain for the summer terms. (There is no need to request software for a previous term.) All software is refreshed annually for fall which requires all software to be requested for the fall semester.

Software installations or renewals need to be submitted by the following dates:

  • For installation prior to Fall Semester, send in your software and license information by May 1.
  • For installation prior to Spring Semester, send in your software and license information by Oct. 1.
  • For installation prior to Summer Semester, send in your software and license information by Feb. 1.
We cannot guarantee late requests will be installed and available by the beginning of classes for the semester requested.

Software Installation Procedure

    1. Software contact or instructors may request software. To find your department's software contact, go to Software - Contacts.
    2. Fill out the Lab or Classroom Software Request Form.
    3. Deliver the software and copy of the license agreement (EULA) to Client Experiences Solutions team via email ndsu.lab.software@ndsu.edu. The license agreement information must contain the total number of licenses purchased. Software documentation for our consultants would be appreciated.
    4. A service request ticket will be created for you to communicate or track your software request.
NDSU has approximately 1125 computers in public classrooms and labs. Some software licensing agreements allow the use of a metering program, such as Keyserver, in order to run the application in a cost-efficient manner. For example, Keyserver would allow us to install an application with only 40 licenses on 1125 computers. The active metering environment (Keyserver) would allow 40 machines to concurrently run the application at any one time. The benefit of this is that only 40 licenses need to be purchased.
If you would like to take advantage of this feature, please provide either the licensing agreement clearly stating that software metering is allowed, OR an e-mail from the company clearly stating that software metering is allowed.
