Instructional Design Resources

The Learning & Applied Innovation Center (LAIC) supports faculty, staff and students in effective and innovative uses of technology in the learning environment through consultations.

What is Instructional Design?

Instructional design is the creation of instructional materials. This field goes beyond simply creating teaching materials, it carefully considers how students learn and what materials and methods will most effectively help individuals achieve their academic goals. The principles of instructional design also consider how educational technologies can be used to support learning and teaching.

Instructional Design Consultations

The LAIC instructional design (ID) team is available to answer questions and help solve issues regarding fully online, on-campus, or hyflex courses. Our approach is to start with your course and/or lesson objectives and discuss evidence-based strategies and tools that can be used to achieve your learning and teaching goals. To learn more about our instructional design service or to request a consult visit the LAIC Instructional Design Consultations KB page.
