NDSU Computer Lifecycle
Notice: If you are looking for resources on HyFlex teaching, please visit our Teach HyFlex Page
The intent of this program is to address the entire computer hardware lifecycle on the NDSU campus.
New Hardware Purchasing
New systems can be purchased at any time through the NDSU Bookstore. Information Technology Services purchases new systems for some clusters every summer. During this purchase cycle, ITS attempts to negotiate a special price for the standard system. The negotiated price and standard system are available to all departments on campus. Departments may purchase new standard machines throughout the year by clicking on the link below
Cascade Machines
Each summer, 4-year-old cluster machines become available for departments to purchase. These systems are designed to replace 5- and 6-year-old computers that are still being used in departments. Throughout the year, other systems that fit the hardware standard for cascaded machines may become available.
Surplus Hardware
Systems that departments no longer need are sent to surplus. Physical data is completely removed from any system.
