NDSU Computer Lifecycle

The intent of this page is to address the entire computer hardware lifecycle on the NDSU campus.

New Hardware Purchasing

New systems can be purchased at any time through the NDSU Bookstore. Information Technology Services purchases new systems for some labs each summer. During this purchase cycle, ITS negotiates the best pricing possible for common systems. These standard systems at the negotiated price are available for departmental purchases by clicking on the link below.

Cascade Machines (Ending)

The cascade program has essentially ended.  In the past, classroom and lab computers were replaced after four years of service, and then made available to departments for another two years of use.  Classroom and lab computers are now being used for the full extent of their useful life.

Surplus Hardware

Systems that departments no longer need are sent to surplus. Physical data is removed from these systems.
