Administrative Rights on NDSU Managed Computers

This document describes how NDSU employees can elevate themselves as an administrator for both Windows and MacOS on their NDSU managed computers.

The Windows - 'Make Me Admin' or, MacOS - 'Privileges' tools can be used to temporarily give standard users Admin rights to make system changes, install software/printers/scanners, or perform other administrative functions on windows and macOS operating systems. With 'Make Me Admin', users get admin rights for 10 minutes for their Windows machines, and with 'Privileges', they get it for 15 minutes for Mac machines before they can return to being a standard user. Users will be automatically demoted to a standard user if the timeout lapses.

Note: NDSU faculty or staff only. Users must launch the apps & elevate themselves prior to receive any prompts asking for administrator password.
