Zoom Common Area Phone (Poly) Basics
This document goes through an initial view of the Zoom common area phones (Poly phones).
Zoom Common Area Phone Overview
The Zoom common area phones, also known as Poly phones as they are offered by Poly and have it written on their handsets, will replace the AVAYA phones currently present around campus when the transition to Zoom Phone is complete. This overview will aim to help familiarize yourself with the functionality available on these systems.
Buttons
- Keypad: Zoom Common Area Phones have a typical phoneset keypad available to them for dialing numbers.
- Line/Contact keys: These simple keys located to the left of the LCD screen let you select a line to make a call from or contact to contact.
- "Soft" keys: These context-sensitive keys are located underneath the LCD screen and their functions correspond to different options displayed on the LCD screen depending on the context.
- Pagination key: The pagination key, the small button with 3 dots displayed on it, lets you edit and navigate through additional pages on your home screen.
- Menu navigation keys: Above the keypad, multiple menu navigation keys are available. A home and back button are available, to the right and the left respectively, to bring up the home menu and to navigate back to previous pages, and 4 navigational keys with a selection key in the center allow you to navigate through and select options displayed by the home menu.
- Headset key: On the right side of the phoneset, with a headset icon displayed on the button, this key lets you transmit sound to a connected headset and displays a green light when selected.
- Speakerphone key: On the right side of the phoneset, with a speaker icon displayed on the button, this key allows you to transmit a phone call through the speakers of the phoneset and displays a green light when selected.
- Mute key: On the bottom right side of the phoneset, with a slashed microphone icon displayed on the button, this key will mute the phone and not allow any sound to be transmitted to the other end of a call and displays a red light around the key when selected.
- Hold call key: On the left side of the phoneset, with a phone icon next to a pause icon displayed on the button, this key will put your current call on hold until you press the key again.
- Transfer call key: On the left side of the phoneset, with an icon of two phones pointing at each other, this key will bring up the transfer call menu on the LCD screen.
- Volume control keys: On the bottom left side of the phoneset, with a plus and minus icon on the top and bottom, these two keys will allow you to change the volume of the phone's ringtone and the volume of any calls.
LED Status Indicator Bar
At the very top of the Zoom Common Area Phone phoneset, the Status Indicator can show you at a glance the current state of your phone/phone call.
