NDSU Blackboard Request for Vendor Tool Integration

Below is an overview of the Blackboard 3rd Party Vendor Request process at NDSU.

Third-party Learning Tool Integration (LTI) that are not created by Blackboard, require approval and manual intervention to test and implement on the NDUS Blackboard Learn system. NDSU has implemented a process and deadlines to assist with meeting this goal.

These Deadlines are to ensure new requests for Blackboard LTI's are acquired in time to review, install, configure, and test basic functionality (on the NDUS test system). Late requests will be processed and tested if schedules permit but are not guaranteed.

Request Deadlines:

  • For Fall Term: Submit by May. 15 
  • For Spring Term: Submit by Sept. 15 
  • For Summer Term: Submit by Feb. 15

Process: 

    1. The instructor will submit an NDSU IT Help Desk ticket (please allow time for the Help Desk to route the ticket to the IDC). The instructor will be receive updates through the Service Now (SNOW) ticketing system.
    2. Through the SNOW ticket system, the IDC will provide the link to the 3rd Party Integration form for the instructor to complete, including vendor information.
       1. Request for 3rd Party Integration to Blackboard form: After the 3rd Party Integration form has been completed and submitted it will be internally reviewed by IDC . 
       2. Following the review by IDC it may be needed to be reviewed by the NDSU Security Office.
       3. Software and Online Service – Security and License Review: An additional form will need to be completed, if required, for the Security Office review. The security vetting process could take anywhere from 1-4 weeks.
    3. If approved by IDC, and Security (if required), IDC will submit a ticket request to Core Technology Services (CTS) requesting the 3rd Party Vendor information be added to the NDUS Blackboard test system for testing. Please note, depending on the 3rd Party Vendor product and the testing process this could approximately take a week or longer
    4. After a successful testing process, the 3rd Party Integration will be added to the Blackboard production environment for the instructor to begin using.
