NDSU Blackboard Request for Vendor Tool Integration

Below is an overview of the Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) Tool Request process at NDSU.

LTIs that are not created by Blackboard must go through an internal approval process before installation.

Key Considerations:

  • Accessibility – ADA compliance
  • FERPA – student educational records protection
  • Installation/Setup on Blackboard – node aware
  • Security – data privacy

New requests for Blackboard LTI's must be submitted providing time to review, install, configure, and test basic functionality. Please note this process could take 4-6 weeks. Late requests will be processed and tested if schedules permit but are not guaranteed.

Request Deadlines:

  • For Fall Term: Submit by July 1st
  • For Spring Term: Submit by October 15th
  • For Summer Term: Submit by March 15th

Process:

  1. The instructor will submit a NDSU IT Service Center ticket.
    • Updates will be made through the Freshservice ticketing system.
  2. The IDC will provide the requester with the appropriate form link to begin the process.
    • The process includes review by the IT Security Office and the Office of Registration and Records.
    • The security vetting process could take anywhere from 1-4 weeks.
  3. If approved, the IDC will submit a ticket request to Core Technology Services (CTS) requesting the LTI be added to Blackboard stage for testing.
    • Please note, depending on the LTI and the testing process this could approximately take a week or longer
  4. After a successful testing process (which includes the requester), the LTI will be added to Blackboard production for the instructor to begin using.
