NDSU Computer Lifecycle

The intent of this page is to address the entire computer hardware lifecycle for NDSU client systems managed by IT.

New Hardware Purchasing

Departmental systems can be purchased at any time through the NDSU Bookstore.  Information Technology Services (ITS) purchases new systems for general purpose labs each summer. During this purchase cycle, ITS seeks the best pricing possible for common, standard systems. These systems are available for departmental purchase by clicking the link below.

Cascade Machines (Ended)

The cascade program is no longer a service offered by ITS.  In the past, classroom and lab computers were replaced after four years of service and then made available to departments for another two years of use.  Classroom and lab computers are now being used for the full extent of their useful life.

Surplus Hardware

Systems that departments no longer need are sent to surplus. Physical data is removed from these systems.
