Student Employment - IDC Student Supervisor
Hours Per Week: 20-25 (up to 40 a week when class is not in session)
Starting Wage: Varies with candidate experience ($17.25/hour base)
Reports To: IDC Manager/Supervisor
The Student Supervisor assists in the operational management of the IDC, including, but not limited to:
- hiring, scheduling, and supervising student employees
- providing orientation and training to new student employees
- monitoring the IDC computers and other lab equipment
- providing ongoing training and communicating with the IDC staff
- developing tutorials and other documentation, as needed
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform all duties and responsibilities of a Technology Assistant
- Supervise student staff
- hire student employees, as needed
- schedule students
- train students
- aid in regular student evaluations
- Willingness and availability to work weekend and evening hours, as needed
- Coordinate and lead monthly staff meetings
- Assist the IDC Management Team in assessing IDC needs for short term and long-term planning
- Monitor working conditions of the general lab computers and software, communicating any problems and/or work-around to the IDC and IDC staff
- Function as a point of contact for student staff to ask questions or report problems
- Develop and maintain orientation materials for new student employees
- Identify training needs for student employees and provide training, as needed
- Identify lab documentation needs and assist with developing necessary documentation
- Oversee projects being worked on by student employees
- Ensure customers receive effective, timely assistance
- Other duties assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Demonstrated leadership ability
- Experience as a IDC Technology Assistant for two semesters or equivalent work experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Committed to life-long learning
- Well-developed computer skills
- Advanced knowledge of various types of computer hardware and software
Preferred Qualifications:
- Supervisory/Management experience
- Teaching, tutoring experience, and/or training experience
- Experience writing documentation
- Proficiency in one or more of the following: Adobe products (Photoshop, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Flash), Microsoft products and multimedia hardware and software
