AutoDesk Account and Student Subscription Info

This page will go over how students can create an Autodesk account, student subscription, adding software to their account, using Autodesk software in the computer labs, downloading Autodesk products, and installing them.

Info: Students now have to have an Autodesk account to use Autodesk Then apply for a student "subscription" (The subscription lasts one year before you will need to renew it), add each piece of software to your account that you want to be able to use. (AutoCAD, Revit, Civil3d..etc)

Autodesk Account Creation and Student Subscription Setup

Step 1: Create Your Autodesk Account (Autodesk ID)

  1. Open a web browser and go to:
    https://accounts.autodesk.com/register
  2. In another tab or on your phone, log into your N.D. University System email account — you’ll need it for verification in part 4 of step 1.
  3. On the Autodesk registration page, enter your NDUS email address (Example: FirstName.LastName@ndus.edu), check mark the box for Autodesk Terms of Use, then click Next.
  4. Check your email for a verification code, then copy or type it into the Autodesk page and click Next.
  5. On the “Create your account” page, fill in your name, create a password for your Autodesk account, then click Create Account.
  6. Once you see the message “Account created,” click Continue to proceed.

      7. After your account is created, Go to this web page: https://autodesk.com/education/edu-software/overview

If you run into any issues at any step:

  • Note what’s on your screen, or take a screenshot.
  • Contact NDSU IT Services or visit the IT Service Desk in person. (ndsu.itservice@ndsu.edu) or 701.231.8685.
  • Tell them which step you’re on, what you’re seeing, and (if possible) show them the screenshot.

Step 2: Select an Autodesk Product and Apply for a Student Subscription
  1. Click here: Education Software Overview On that web page, choose the product you want to use. (For example: AutoCAD).
  2. Click Select under the product name.
  3. On the product page, find the student subscription option and click Select.
  4. Fill out the form on the next page:
    • For the school address, enter:
      North Dakota State University
      1401 Administration Ave N
      (Select the auto-complete suggestion if one appears.)
  5. Complete the remaining questions and click Continue, repeat this until you see a message confirming successful student verification, and the Submit button will become active at the top right of the screen.
  6. Click the Submit button to finish.
  7. You’ll see a “Thank you” confirmation message, your student subscription should now active for one year from the date you applied.
    Optional Step: Add More Autodesk Products

    If you’d like to use more Autodesk products:

    1. Return to https://autodesk.com/education/edu-software/overview.
    2. Find another software, click the Select button underneath it.
    3. On the next page, click Select again under subscription plans for “Student
    4. The form will already be filled out —click Submit to get the software added to your account.

Using Autodesk in the Campus Computer Labs or Classrooms

    1. Go to a computer lab on campus.
    2. Log into the computer with your campus credentials.
    3. Open the Autodesk software you added to your Autodesk account earlier. (Like: AutoCAD)
    4. Click Sign in with your Autodesk ID (The account you created in step 1).
    5. Fill in your NDUS email address, and use the password you created earlier for your Autodesk account.
    6. You can now use the software in the computer labs.

Downloading and Installing Autodesk Programs

  1.   Go to the Products Page where you can download Autodesk programs you added to your account.
  2.   Under the product you want, click the "download" button, it will download a small file to your computer. Double click on the file, it will download the full installer, and then offer you the option to "run installer".
  3.   Click on "run installer" and it will guide you through the options for installing the Autodesk program to your computer.
  4.   After the install is complete you may be on a  "Let's Get Started" screen, Click "sign in with your Autodesk ID" (The account you created in step 1).
  5.    Fill in your NDUS email address, and use the password you created earlier for your Autodesk account.
