Requesting Access to Campus Connection
NOTE: If employee only needs access to Blackboard, please see Adding Users to Blackboard.
The Process:
1. Employee Completes Required Training
- Employees are required to complete both the "NDUS Data Privacy" and "NDSU FERPA" trainings prior to submitting a request for security
Data Privacy Training
- This training only needs to be completed once during an individual's employment within the ND University System*
- This training *MUST* be completed prior to submitting the access request forms below
- Use NDUS credentials when logging in

*NOTE: A July 2019 system conversion resulted in the loss of all Data Privacy training completion records up to that point. Employees who completed the training prior to July 2019 are asked to re-take the training in order to register a completion for our records.
FERPA Training
- This training needs to be completed each fiscal year (starting July 1st to June 30th of the following year)
- This training *MUST* be completed prior to submitting the access request forms below
- Use your BISON LOGIN credentials when logging in

2. Department Submits Security Request Form
- Employees cannot request security changes for their own account.
- Security requests must be made by a supervisor or department administrator on behalf of the employee.
- Departments should use the form that matches one of the following scenarios to request security for their employee:
Primary & Secondary Instructors
Use the following form for employees who will be listed as either a Primary or Secondary Instructor of a course.
- NOTE: Users assigned to this role will be eligible for student evaluations.
- The following optional roles may also be selected:
- Class Permission — Allows user to assign electronic class permissions for department consent, class limit and requisite overrides
- Student Advisor — Allows access to advisee information including registration holds and advisement reports
- The form asks for a listing of course information, including the term code, course prefix and catalog number, section number, and class ID number.
- If exact information is not available at the time of submission, zeros may be entered to satisfy the required field validation.
Teaching Assistants
Use the following form for employees who will be listed as a Teaching Assistant for a course.
- NOTE: Users assigned to this role will NOT be included in the student evaluations.
- The form asks for a listing of course information, including the term code, course prefix and catalog number, section number, and class ID number.
- If exact information is not available at the time of submission, zeros may be entered to satisfy the required field validation.
Blackboard Course Builder or Grader
If the employee does not need access to Campus Connection and only needs access to a Blackboard role (Course Builder or Grader), please see Adding Users to Blackboard in the IT Knowledgebase for more information or use the link below to submit a help ticket request.
Professional & Departmental Advisors
Use the following form if the employee does not serve an instructional role for a course but does serve as an Advisor to students (either as a Professional Advisor through the Career and Advising Center or as an advisor within an academic department).
- If the employee serves as an instructor in a course, please use the "Primary & Secondary Instructors" request form (above) and check the "Student Advisor" chekbox to have advisor permissions assigned.
- NOTE: Entering a Name and/or EMPLID number for the "Security should match the following current or past employee" line is helpful
Academic Department Administrative Staff
Use the following form if the employee serves in an administrative role within an academic department (such as Dean, Director, Academic Coordinator, Business Manager, etc.), where additional security beyond an instructional faculty role is needed.
- NOTE: Entering a Name and/or EMPLID number for the "Security should match the following current or past employee" line is helpful
Non-Academic Administrative Staff
Use the following form if the employee serves as a staff member for an administrative department outside of academics (such as Admission, Financial Aid, Graduate School, Registration & Records, etc.), where specific access to student records and departmental processes is needed.
- If the employee is transferring employment from one department to another, make sure to select "Existing User Changing Departments" so that previous security settings can be reviewed
- NOTE: Entering a Name and/or EMPLID number for the "Security should match the following current or past employee" line is helpful
- The following optional security may be requested on this form as well:
- Campus Connection STAGE environment
- GT eForms
- MoveIT
- Perceptive Content Linking Screens
- Query Viewer
Visiting Scholars
Use the following form if the employee only needs access to log in to Campus Connection for the purposes of making a health insurance payment online.
- Only the "Visiting Scholar Access" checkbox needs to be checked.
3. Employee Signs and Completes Form in DocuSign
- The employee is required to acknowledge they have completed the required training and sign the form.
- Employees may select the "Finish Later" option on the DocuSign form if they need to complete a training before signing.
- NOTE: The form is submitted for processing after the employee signs it. Any delay with the employee signing the form will delay processing.
4. Submitted Request Form is Processed
- The Campus Access Control Officer (CACO) for Campus Solutions receives the submitted form.
- Forms are typically processed at the beginning of each business day. Forms submitted after daily processing has completed will be processed the following business day.
- All forms are checked to verify completion of required training by the employee.
- Requests for employees who do not complete the required training within 30 days of the form's submission date will be canceled and a new request will need to be submitted if security is still needed.
- Security assigned to the employee's account should be immediately available to the user once saved in the system (may require a logout & login cycle to refresh settings).
- For Instructors, Teaching Assistants, and Advisors; the form is forwarded to Registration & Records for course and/or advisor assignments.
- NOTE: Changes made by Registration & Records require an overnight system refresh for those assignments to be copied into Blackboard.
