JMP Student Edition

This document talks about the statistical software "JMP Student Edition" that enables users to easily explore & visualize data, using the software in classrooms/labs/personal computers, JMP account creation, and the subscription renewal process.

JMP Student Edition is now free for academic use by students, instructors, and academic researchers, through their Bison Login. Please be aware that licensing for JMP is no longer through a license file on each device. You will need to sign-up for a MyJMP account in order to get your school account verified, then register for a 12-month free subscription. When you launch the software on a computer you are asked to "authorize your software", use the email address you created your MyJMP account with.

Note: Students, instructors, and academic researchers must be currently enrolled at or employed by a degree-granting institution.

Signing-up for MyJMP Account and Student Subscription

Creating a free 'MyJMP' account is important for authentication, license verification, as well as getting the downloadable JMP Student Edition files for Windows & macOS. Here is a brief step by step instruction:

  1. Go to the JMP Student Edition site. Click the button "Get JMP for free!"
  2. Look below the "Sign in" button. Click on the text "Sign up", with your name, and NDSU email. It will then send a verification code to the NDSU email address you provided.
  3. Enter the code from your email. Accept the 'Terms of Use' to continue.
  4. Set your affiliation with NDSU (student/faculty/academic researcher) and provide with your course info, school name & other required information. ('Street Address' is optional)
  5. You will be redirected to another website to verify your academic status. Click the "Start" button , type the name of the school, and look for 'North Dakota State University' from the drop down as you type and click on it.
  6. Login with your Bison Login account, and you will get redirected to a download page for JMP Student, If you scroll down you will see the expiration date of your new student subscription under "Student Authorization Detail". Your account and subscription have now been setup.
  •   If you scroll down to the bottom of the page, you will see the download links for Both Windows and Mac JMP Student Edition.

Already Have an Account and Want to Renew Your Subscription? 

  • Check the subscription expiration date here. Click on the  "Re-Register" link on the page if you want to renew for another year.

Using JMP Student for NDSU Computer Labs and Classrooms

  Follow the Signing-up for a MyJMP Account steps if you don't have a MyJMP account created with an "active" student subscription.

  1. Login to a lab or classroom computer.
  2. Look for the app JMP Student edition and launch it. You will be prompted to login to your MyJMP account after launching JMP Student Edition and the software can only be used if your MyJMP account is created and have an active student subscription.
  3. In the dialog box, fill out the NDSU email address you used to register your MyJMP account and press Enter
  4. Open your NDSU email box and select the email message from JMP that has your access code. Copy the access code.
  5. The JMP app will have a window prompting you for the email access code, paste the code you copied from email.
  6. Start using JMP Student Edition

JMP Student Edition for Non-Lab or Personal Computer

In order to download and use the software, you will need to follow the Signing-up for MyJMP Account and Student Subscription steps above.

If you're signed up, here is the link to page with the downloads for JMP Student Edition for Windows/Mac.

  • After installing JMP Student Edition on your computer follow the below steps to sign in, and start using the software.
  1. Launch JMP Student Edition on your computer.
  2. You will be prompted to login to your MyJMP account. Fill out the NDSU email you signed up for your MyJMP account, then on the next screen provide the emailed code that was sent.
  3. Start using JMP Student Edition.
