Test Availability Exceptions
Below are instructions instructors can use to grant test availability exceptions.
Exceptions in Ultra
When special circumstances arise, you can give an individual student an exception on a specific test or assignment. For more information on how to Grant Exemptions and Exemptions in Ultra, refer to the guidelines.
Exceptions in Original
These 4 settings can be changed in the Test Availability Exceptions for selected students:
- Allow additional time to complete timed tests for students needing test accommodations requested through the Center for Accessibility and Disability Resources
- Remove the timed or Auto-Submit requirements for students needing test accommodations requested through the Center for Accessibility and Disability Resources
- Allow multiple attempts when only single attempts are permitted (for example: allow a student to retake a test)
- Allow access to tests before or after they are available to the rest of the class
Allow Additional Time
- Navigate to 'Grade book'
- Click on 'Students'
- Click the '...' on the right of the student you are editing
- Click 'Accommodations'
- Check 'Time limit accommodation' and add the percentage or click unlimited.
Allow Multiple Attempts
- Navigate to the test in the course content.
- Navigate to the submission area in the test.
- Find the student in the list and click the '...' on the right hand side of the screen.
- Click on 'Add or edit Exceptions'
- Under 'Attempts allowed' > select the number of attempts allowed in the drop down > Submit
Change Availability Dates/Times
- Follow steps 1 – 4 above
- Select Show On and/or Hide after > choose After: and/or Before dates/times as needed > Save > Submit
