Microsoft Office 2019 & Office 2021 will reach their end of life respectively on October 2025 & October 2026. This means NDSU IT will no longer provide support for Office 2019 or 2021 products after these dates. We have made the new Office 2024 software available to install on the IT managed computers and recommend the users to upgrade their Office LTSC Professional suite to the latest version. New computers orders will default to Office 2024 unless specified to use Office 2021.

N.B: NOT applicable for Microsoft Office365.

How to Check the Existing Office Version

On Windows:

• Go to Add or remove programs on your Windows machine to get the list of installed programs.
• Just type "Office" in the Search apps field and verify the version for Office LTSC Professional Plus from the search result. 

On macOS:

• Open a Microsoft Office application, such as Word, Excel, or PowerPoint.
• Select the name of the application in the top left corner.
• Select About. The version number and license type will appear in the dialog box.

Installing/Upgrading to Office 2024

Please note, This installation will remove any previous version of Microsoft Office. This includes older versions of Microsoft Visio and Project. In that case, please work with your software contact to purchase newer version of Visio or Project. Follow these simple steps to install Office 2024 on your Windows or macOS machines - 

Windows:

1. Before the installation, make sure to close all the Office apps (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc) on your computer.
2. Search for Software Center in the Windows search bar and open it.
   
3. Select Microsoft Office LTSC Pro Plus 2024 from the Applications list and hit Install.
    
4. Installation will begin shortly. It will take approximately 20-30 minutes to remove previous versions of Office and upgrade to Office 2024.
5. Please restart your computer once the installation is done.

macOS: 

1. Before the installation, make sure to close all the Office apps (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc).
2. Launch the Self Service app from Launchpad, or initiate a spotlight search with Command + Spacebar and type in 'self service'.
3. Browse the Applications list to locate Microsoft Office 2024 and Install it on your mac.
4. Installation will begin shortly. It will take approximately 20-30 minutes to remove previous versions of Office and upgrade to Office 2024.
5. Please restart your computer once the installation is done.
