Departmental Printing - Common Issues

Below are a couple common issues that you may run into with departmental printing.

Lanier Does Not Print 

Most all Laniers on campus require a valid user code.  These codes are supplied by Document Services.

  • Start - Devices and Printers 
  • Select the printer in question, right click, 'Printer Properties' 
  • If there is a 'Change Properties' option on the main page, select and give credentials 
  • Under 'Preferences' - 'Valid Access' your user code should be here. 
  • 'Apply', 'Ok' 
  • Close then re-open and confirm the changes were made. 

User Code Only Allows for Black and White 

Some user codes are set not to allow color.  Despite logic, this also includes standard documents that do not include color. 

  • Start - Devices and Printers 
  • Select the printer in question, right click, 'Printer Properties' 
  • If there is a 'Change Properties' option the main page, select and give credentials 
  • Under the 'General tab', 'Preferences', change ''Color/Black and White:' to black and white 
  • 'Apply', 'OK' 
  • Close then re-open and confirm the changes were made.
