SAS - Installation Instructions

Below are instructions for the installation of SAS.

Before You Start

  • Make sure you have uninstalled all existing SAS components from your computer.
  • To uninstall SAS components, open Control Panel and locate “Uninstall Programs” for Windows 7 or “Add or RemovePrograms” forWindowsXP. 
  • Also youmust delete the folder NamedSASHome located inside C:\Program Files on your computer. NOTE: If you fail to do this step the program will NOT install correctly and you will have to start over.


  1. Log in at the Software Downloads page to download SAS.
  2. Open the folder "SAS Software Depot"
  3. In the SAS Software Depot folder, locate and right click on the "Setup" application, then click on "Run as administrator"
  4. If you are asked whether you want to allow the program to make changes to your computer, choose Yes
  5. Leave English selected for the language and click OK
  6. Make sure "Install SAS software" is checked and click Next
  7. Click Next
  8. Select "Install SAS Foundation and Related Software" Then click Next
  9. Leave the boxes that are checked and check the two additional boxes shown below. Then click Next.
  10. Leave the selection at 64-bit Native Mode. Click Next
  11. Click Next.
  12. The expiration date should be 28FEB2016. Click Next.
  13. Click Clear All, so only English is left for languages the software supports. Click Next.
  14. Click Next.
  15. Leave SAS Foundation selected and click next.
  16. Uncheck "Start Service Now and Automatically when Windows Starts." Click Next.
  17. Click Next at the next screen.
  18. Click Next at the next screen
  19. Click Start. Because it needs to download 641 selections during this step, it may take up to 2 hours to complete.
  20. Click Next.
  21. Continue clicking Next until you Finish.
