Printing from Linux at NDSU using PaperCut
Before You Start
- 
Network Access - 
On-campus: Connect to eduroam Wi-Fi or Ethernet. 
- 
Off-campus: Connect to the NDSU VPN. 
 
- 
- 
Driver Choice - 
Use the Generic PostScript driver (good for all standard printing needs). 
 
- 
Setup Instructions
- 
Open Settings → Printers → click Additional Printer Settings… 
- 
Click + Add to create a new printer. 
- 
Select Enter URI. 
- 
Enter this printer path exactly: 
- 
Click Forward. 
- 
Choose Generic → PostScript and click Forward. 
- 
Name the printer something easy to recognize, such as: NDSU_Departmental_Printing
- 
(Optional) Print a test page to confirm setup. 
Printing
- 
The first time you print, you’ll be prompted for credentials. 
- 
Use this format for your login: Username: firstname.lastname@ad.ndsu.eduPassword: Your NDSU password
- 
After authentication, your print job will be held in PaperCut. 
- 
Go to a release station or supported copier and swipe your NDSU ID card to release the job.
